Among some of the more colorful facial alterations and adornments seen throughout various indigenous populations are those invented by specific Brazilian populations. The Maxuruna at top left has feather filled pierced cheeks and wooden labrets in five locations. The Mura tribesman at middle left has three horn shaped piercings which could presumably be animal teeth won as trophies. The Miranha at middle right has two large nose labrets and loose elongated ear piercings. The Yapura at bottom left has an individual chin labret with shaved head and headress. The Broro at bottom right has elongated earrings and matching lipring which is heavy enough to warp the natural form of the lower lip.
